Why?
Why is resupply for guests only?
I am the host, owner, and only employee. I do the cleaning, laundry, make the beds, do the shopping, re-stock supplies, and manage all the bookings. I also do post office drops and run hiker shuttles all day. We're open 7 days a week. Something has to give -- I can't be a full-time shopkeeper as well.
Why no work-for-stay?
I just don't have any work to offer. I am not hiring.
Why no bunks or tenting?
I received special permission from Washington County MD to provide a "bed & breakfast with private rooms" -- that's all I'm permitted to offer.
Why no extended stays (3-night maximum)?
Zero Day Stay is a hiker hostel, but it's also my actual home. And I'm an odd guy who doesn't want roommates or long-term house guests. I want Zero Day to be a place where hikers come to pause and recharge -- not stop and reset.
Why no laundry for walk-up hikers?
For all hiker clothes, all sheets & blankets, and all of my personal clothes, there is only one good washer and one good dryer. There is just not enough time for more, and my water and septic systems are already at their limits.
Why no showers for walk-up hikers?
With the laundry, dishwasher, and showering needs of just the guests and me, my water and septic system are at their limits.
